Context

Myra is a cloud-based co-operative management platform that digitalizes operations for savings-and-credit unions. It consolidates what used to be several disconnected systems into one SaaS — positioned as "a simple, secure and shared digital platform connecting cooperatives with technology" for Nepal's large but largely under-digitized co-operative (सहकारी) sector.

My Role

As Product Designer and UI/UX Designer I drove the experience across both the web application and the member-facing mobile app — from research and information architecture to interaction design and UI. The work spanned several distinct user types: co-operative staff and tellers, administrators, and the members themselves.

The Problem

Many co-operatives still ran on paper ledgers, spreadsheets and standalone desktop tools. Savings and credit, member records, share trading, accounting and inventory each lived in their own silo, making day-to-day operations manual and error-prone and leaving members with no convenient digital access to their own accounts. Onboarding new co-operatives to software was itself a barrier.

What I Did

  • Designed a unified system across modules — Core Banking (savings & credit), Member & Share Management, Accounting and Inventory — so staff work in one consistent interface instead of switching tools.
  • Designed member-facing digital channels — mobile banking, internet banking and SMS banking — to give members self-service access that most co-operatives had never offered.
  • Designed for low-friction onboarding"simple setup, quick registration, secure data" — recognizing that the target co-operatives have limited technical staff.
  • Balanced two very different audiences — dense, efficient back-office screens for power users against simple, reassuring flows for first-time member app users.

Outcome

Myra shipped as a web-plus-mobile platform that lets co-operatives move from informal, manual structures to modern digital operations — democratizing technology for the sector with a "secure, simple and cost-effective digital start for cooperatives."

Reflection

Designing for both an expert teller and a first-time mobile-banking member in the same product line was the central tension. Investing earlier in a shared design system would have kept the two experiences coherent as modules multiplied.
