Context
Redstone is back-office infrastructure for retail store owners and chains. It integrates with a store's POS and back office and combines automation with expert human support — framed around three pillars, "More Profits, Less Stress, Zero Risks," and the promise of "Effortless Operations, Maximum Profit."
My Role
As UI/UX Designer I shaped the back-office product experience — translating a sprawling set of retail operations (sales, inventory, cash, accounting, compliance) into clear, workable screens, and collaborating with the product and engineering teams on flows and handoff.
The Problem
Independent and small-chain retailers bleed money in ways they can't easily see: pilferage, mispriced items, untracked cash and the constant overhead of bookkeeping and tax filing. As one store owner put it, "We were losing so much money to pilferage and incorrect pricing." Existing tools were fragmented across locations and demanded more attention than busy operators could give.
What I Did
- Designed around "less work, not more" — the product had to surface problems and resolutions to owners without adding to their daily load, so the interface leads with insight and exceptions rather than raw data entry.
- Unified the operational picture — sales-to-inventory, cash management and CPA filing presented in one place instead of scattered systems.
- Made profit leakage visible — designed views that flag pricing errors and loss issues immediately, the core value customers cited.
- Designed for the automation-plus-human model — keeping the hand-off between AI automation and expert support legible to the owner.
Outcome
Redstone shipped as a POS-integrated back-office platform that helps retailers spot pricing errors and pilferage immediately and reduce operational overhead — delivering on its "Effortless Operations, Maximum Profit" positioning by removing work rather than adding it.
Reflection
The discipline here was resisting the urge to show owners everything. The wins came from designing for exceptions and recommendations — answering "what needs my attention?" rather than "here is all your data."
